With the night before spent being pampered in Killashee hotel, I bounced out of bed, had me a hearty breakie and I was set for a big day the the Curragh. Manley obviously looked after my outfit, while David Marshall took care of the ‘doo’ and off I headed for the Curragh.
First thing was first, I wandered the grounds of the Curragh getting a feel for what style was going down. It’s fair to say the weather was not in our favour. Those who bothered getting their doo’s done for the day, quickly found them blown out by the wind. Those ladies who turned out for Most Stylish Lady, really had their work cut out for them.
Myself and fellow judges, Ciara McElligot, Aoibhinn McBride and David Marshall were each given 10 wristbands to hand out to ladies who we felt fit the bill to be in with a chance to sweep the overall prize.
Once 15:00 came, all of our chosen ladies came on by the David Marshall tent to chat with the judges about their outfits. Some ladies had amazing stories of how their outfits came about, bags handed down from a great grandmother's, hats from famous Irish millner’s, dresses handed down from mothers and in one case a hat that was created from plastic spoons her son got in ice cream! Others simply have a good eye for style and mixed up some beautiful designer pieces with everyday high street.
Our hopefuls were narrowed down to 5 to scoop the big prize which included a year's supply of champagne and a years VIP pass to the David Marshall hair salon!
All in all we had a tough job but to all three judges, the winner was clear. For me Caoilnn dressed impeccably for the day that was in it. She beautifully mixed up high street, international designer brand and Irish designer pieces. She looked elegant, groomed and above all, effortlessly stylish.
